AN EXAMINATION INTO THE ABUSES WITHIN THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM
by Abigail Christensen
ABSTRACT
Abuse ranging from physical to substance in foster care has been a lasting problem that has plagued the child support system. A lack of resources for groups of people such as people of color, LGBTQ youth, and pregnant teens has been detrimental to their wellbeing. A major problem in the children’s early development is the neglect they endure whether it be before or after foster care, and Romanian orphanages have been a prime example. The foster care system has known about the abuses for years, and it is time to address their problems in order to create better lives for children.
