ABOUT ME

Hi my name is Abigail Christensen, and I wrote my thesis on analyzing the abuses in the foster care system. My thesis combined many different aspects ranging from abuse before care or within care, abuse on the basis of race and on LGBTQ youth, neglect on the brain with Romanian orphanages, and my own short story about foster care. This topic peeked my interest because of my parents own interest in fostering kids instead of having their own. I thought it would be interesting to analyze what the system would be like and do more research on it. I think in some ways the abuses in foster care have been talked about or represented on TV, but changes aren't being made to the system. I hope my thesis will bring more awareness to the topic and hopefully have people learn new information about a problem that is plaguing the lives of many children.

After graduating from Wakefield, I will be attending East Carolina University in the fall.
